My Today, and Before

burning sunset as i drive far

far into the west, leaving behind heartache
though the leaving is half the pain

the girl in the white dress thinking perhaps
maybe
she could be the floating free spirit
the dress belongs to
but clinging stubbornly to the insistence she couldn't be

Lovely poem. Leaving oftentimes hurts, but it usually opens up better possibilities.
